About

By supporting social entrepreneurs rebuilding local news in communities across America — with journalism that is fact-based and vetted — you can help strengthen our democracy. Diversity, equity, and inclusion are core values of AJP. Our portfolio strategy is designed to catalyze a local news ecosystem that looks like and is led by the public it serves.

Our vision is a thriving ecosystem of local, civic journalism that strengthens democracy in the United States.

Our desired outcomes:
-Communities support local journalism as a public good and a valued civic institution
-A high-quality news organization serves every community’s needs
-Civic news organizations have the time, talent and tools they need to be financially sustainable

About the Host

The American Journalism Project is a new venture philanthropy organization dedicated to local news. By providing course-altering investments and venture support to civic news organizations, we are building a new public service media that is governed by, sustained by and looks like the public it serves.
