In an unprecedented attack on Oct. 7, Hamas massacred hundreds of Israeli civilians, and the fate of more than 100 Israeli hostages is unknown. The Israeli government has declared war against Hamas. The civilian death toll in Gaza is rising daily, with millions of people under siege and trapped with no food, water, and electricity. Israeli airstrikes and raids are demolishing homes, hospitals, and entire neighborhoods. This is the latest escalation of violence in a decades-long crisis.

Innocent civilians must be protected and respect for international humanitarian law is paramount. Access to aid and safe passage for civilians is vital.
