The Trust will draw upon its 95 years of experience, including its emergency response to the September 11 terrorist attacks and superstorm Sandy. Our staff, working with the Board, will use its expertise to target nonprofits that are best suited to tackle these challenges. The Fund has received a generous challenge from Jane Mead Timken to match dollar-for-dollar all contributions up to a total of $500,000.
With your help, we will support charities that are helping New Yorkers facing the loss of income, food, shelter, health care, and more due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Emergency Fund is addressing the immediate challenges and the recovery and resiliency efforts over the months ahead.
The New York Community Trust connects past, present, and future generous New Yorkers with vital nonprofits working to make a healthy, equitable, and thriving community for all. A public charity, The Trust is a grantmaking foundation dedicated to improving the lives of residents of New York City and its suburbs. We bring together individuals, families, foundations, and businesses to build a better community and support nonprofits that make a difference. We apply knowledge, creativity, and resources to the most challenging issues in an effort to ensure meaningful opportunities and a better quality of life for all New Yorkers, today and tomorrow.
