Immigration Institute of the Bay Area

San Francisco, CA, USA https://iibayarea.org/

Mission

The Immigration Institute of the Bay Area (IIBA) helps immigrants, refugees, and their families join and contribute to the community. IIBA provides high-quality, affordable immigration legal services, education, and civic engagement opportunities. We envision diverse communities where immigrants are fully valued, contributing members with full access to justice and economic opportunity.

Our commitment to racial equity is not new; it is at the center of our mission and the work we do. As immigrant rights advocates, we are members of a large movement of advocates and activists fighting for justice and equal opportunity for all, which includes looking at all issues of race we encounter, articulating the implicit biases we all have and evaluating and improving on our organization’s anti-racism work.

In the Bay Area, 20-35% of the population are immigrants and IIBA is the largest provider of immigration legal services in Northern California, delivering advice, direct representation, community education, outreach, and workshops.
Founded in 1918, IIBA has served low-income immigrants from the around the world for over 100 years and now has 8 offices across 6 counties in Northern California, with access to harder-to-reach communities in more rural areas.
Our program serves immigrants from over 40 countries, and approximately 90% of our clients are from Mexico and Latin America.
