Increase Girls' Access to Education in Pakistan

Need

Getting to school and having access to out-of-school educational experiences can be very challenging for girls in remote villages in Pakistan. Transportation is a big concern, as high costs limit access to reliable and safe transportation from rural villages to towns with secondary schools, making it difficult for girls to continue with their education. It also places a financial strain on families who seek to send their girls to school.

Long term impact

A girl who completes secondary education is less likely to experience child marriage and more likely to be empowered as a decision-maker in her own life. She is also more prepared to support -- and advocate for -- the health, well-being, and education of her future children and other members of her community. By supporting girls' education, this project will profoundly impact not only the lives of the girls but also their families and communities.

About the Organization

The mission of Girls Education International is to expand and support educational opportunities for underserved girls and women in remote and developing regions of the world. We partner with community-led organizations to collaboratively scale impact and accelerate change. To increase social capital and ensure sustainability, we leverage local knowledge, leadership, and resources and work tightly in the community systems we serve.
