La Fondita de Jesus in the Community

Host Organization: Corporacion La Fondita de Jesus San Juan, Puerto Rico http://www.lafonditadejesus.org

About

This project reduces health and social inequities among people experiencing or at risk of homelessness in Puerto Rico. Through education, community services, and compassionate outreach, La Fondita de Jesus promotes dignity, well-being, and empowerment. By providing essential health, social, educational, and recreational services in vulnerable communities, we work toward a more just, inclusive, and hopeful society-one person, one family, one neighborhood at a time.

Need

Puerto Rico faces a deepening housing and economic crisis. Thousands of people-especially older adults, LGBTQ+ individuals, and families-are at risk of homelessness due to poverty, unemployment, lack of affordable housing, and recurring natural disasters. Many lack access to healthcare and community support or live just one emergency away from losing their homes. Structural barriers and stigma deepen their isolation. Without collective and coordinated action, these individuals remain invisible.

Long term impact

La Fondita de Jesus transforms lives and communities by addressing the root causes and daily realities of homelessness-not just with housing, but through healing, connection, and lasting dignity. From mobile health services to digital access, every program moves people closer to safety, wellness, and belonging. With your support, we can continue to stand with those too often forgotten. Donate today and help build a future where no one is left behind-and everyone has a place to call home.
