Help schools, victims of terror attacks and IDPs
About
This project will help victims of systematic attacks on the basis of gender, race & religion and populations at risk of famine, drought and natural disasters . Due to school terror attacks in Kabul, Afghanistan, we will provide assistance to the families of victims and scholarships to the traumatized students. We will provide support to the internally displaced, vulnerable families, journalists, and refugees in neighboring countries with cash assistance for food, shelter and basic necessities.
Need
Recent years have seen an increase in genocidal attacks against Hazaras coupled by Taliban's takeover causing tens of thousands to flee their homes. Systematic attacks on Hazaras have left thousands dead and injured, including the school attacks on Sayed-ul-Shuhada Girls school, Kawsar-e-Danish, Mawoud Academy, A. Rahim Shahid, Mumtaz and Kaaj Academy; the massacre in maternity ward run by Doctors Without Borders; and the attack on Hazara mosques in Kabul, Kunduz, Kandahar, and Mazer-e-Sharif.
Long term impact
This project will address the urgent needs of Hazaras, who are directly targeted by the Taliban and IS-K/ISKP terrorist groups on the basis of race, religion and their support for moderate norms. At a time of increasing instability and uncertainty, this project will help the at-risk youth, particularly girls, to have access to education and that the persecuted IDPs, particularly women, and vulnerable populations have access to basic necessities to support their survival and resilience.
About the Organization
Bamyan Foundation is a registered non-profit and non-partisan section 501(c)(3) organization located in Washington DC. We are dedicated to promoting and providing support in the following key areas: 1). Education and Humanitarian Aid Initiatives in the marginalized and persecuted Hazara communities in Afghanistan, with a special focus on girls' education; 2). Community Development efforts to support the Hazara-American diaspora and the new evacuees in the United States; and 3) Our priority is to support women and girls in said key areas. Hazaras are one of the main ethnic/racial groups in Afghanistan, who are under increased risk of genocide in Taliban-controlled Afghanistan, according to United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, Genocide Watch and Forum-Asia. Bamyan Foundation partners with reliable grassroots leaders and community-led organizations that have demonstrated a sound track record of service and low overhead to create long term collective impact in the marginalized and underserved Hazara communities in Afghanistan and in the Hazara-American diaspora communities in the United States. Our grassroots partners are meeting a crucial, locally identified need in their respective host communities, and Bamyan Foundation will support their efforts to this end. We believe that continued assistance supporting programs in the above key areas will have a significant and lasting impact on social and economic mobility of the Hazaras, and will support their survival and resilience in this difficult time.
