Uni Genius 2024
About
The Uni Genius programme will support 80 Black African and Caribbean students (boys and girls) in The UK from state schools to excel in their A-Levels and significantly increase their chances of succeeding in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) careers for 2 years.
Need
By 2023 our country will require 142,000 STEM professionals to match the growing demand for innovation and a growing/ageing population. However, there is currently a STEM skills shortage in the UK of 69000 professionals. In order to prevent our society from stagnating, we have to increase the number of students that aspire to study STEM at University. A small minority of African and Caribbean students aspire to study STEM, so by targeting this group, we can plug the gap and fill the need.
Long term impact
The project will support over 1500 black students within the next 5 years to progress in STEM, benefiting their families, local communities and the wider society.
