Project

St. John Community Food Pantry

About

Our mission is to eliminate hunger on St. John by providing senior citizens and vulnerable residents in need with programs that provide food, promote nutrition and increase self-sufficiency while instilling hope. In doing so, the St. John Community Food Pantry helps to ensure that food relief has a more meaningful, enduring impact.

Need

The current SNAP program does not provide enough for Seniors and those in need of assistance. The SNAP Program renews on a monthly basis often times leaving families in a precarious situation towards the end of the month when groceries are running low. The lack of food security is a stress multiplier in families that are already experiencing hardship.

Long term impact

The Long term impact to reduce hunger on our island and improve the overall situation of those experiencing economic hardships. Our initial goal is to distribute groceries to at least 50 families on island per month.
