Emergency Family Relief Food and Nutrition Support
About
There are major threats to food systems including conflict, famine and drought, locust invasion and the COVID-19 pandemic effects. The project contributes to sustainable development goal 2 with the aim to provide emergency food support, achieve food security and improved nutrition to most vulnerable families in the informal settlement of Nairobi. We are seeking support to enable us to respond to the nutritional needs of children, adolescent girls, pregnant and lactating women, and older persons.
Need
Most vulnerable families in informal settlements who depend on menial jobs have lost their livelihoods due to COVID-19 and famine and drought. Families have no food and no access to safety & preventive measures. Emergency response & relief by distributing food, supporting families set up home gardens to cushion them from food insecurity.
Long term impact
Our Famine and drought Emergency fund in Kenya will help sustain the lives of vulnerable slum families during the drought period and alleviate the financial burden of COVID-19 effects by promoting safety and prevention measures.
