Sponsor Human Rights Education for Nigerian Youths

Host Organization: Society Against Injustice Enugu, Enugu State, Nigeria

About

Human rights are rights we have simply because we are human beings. These rights are universal, inalienable and inherent to us all, regardless of race, nationality, gender, ethnicity, color, religion, language or any other status. In Nigeria, lots of youths are plagued by human rights knowledge and grasp deficits. And for sure, persons unaware of their human right can hardly assert their dignity and actively participate in building a fair and progressive society. This project addresses the gap.

Need

Young people in Nigeria face lots of challenges. Recent surveys by Society Against Injustice reveal that prominent and pressing among the challenges are human rights knowledge and grasp deficits. Without doubt, persons who are unaware of their human right can hardly assert their dignity and actively participate in building a fair and progressive society. The effective and reliable ways of overcoming the challenges include human rights outreach and education, to which this project is dedicated.

Long term impact

Through this project, 10,000 young Nigerians will directly be empowered with improved knowledge and grasp about human rights. These youths will share the newly acquired knowledge with their peers and impact many others who were not privileged to benefit directly from the project. On the long run, this will increase the demand for adherence to rule of law and respect for human rights. Also, it will reduce human right abuses, which is presently on the rise, thus, improving lives and livelihood.

About the Organization

Our mission is building a more just, equitable, and egalitarian society for the betterment of all and sundry.
