LGBT+ in Lebanon are at multiple risk due the war
About
Providing life-saving assistance to the multiply affected LGBTQIA+ individuals due to the war in Lebanon. We have provided rapid cash assistance to more than 120 displaced LGBTQIA+ individuals and their families, helping them cover urgent needs such as shelter, food, and clean water for a few days. However, we have received more than 400 additional requests, and more than 60% of those are from individuals and families who are currently homeless.
Need
LGBTQIA+ individuals, especially those visibly non-normative gender identity such as transgender people, are more vulnerable to harassment and torture during crises. More than 40% of our beneficiaries in Lebanon reported experiencing harassment, bullying, and discrimination Torture during their displacement due to the escalating crisis in Lebanon.
Long term impact
Tens of thousands who have been displaced have lost their homes, lost loved ones, or been injured, and have been severely affected mentally. These impacts will last for a long time, especially as Lebanon has faced multiple crises before this conflict. They were supposed to be recovering today, not facing yet another one.
About the Organization
We are dedicated to addressing the needs of vulnerable LGBTQIA+ individuals inside Syria and globally through our protection programs and research. Through educational resources, we aim to change negative stigmas and enhance equality through knowledge and greater understanding. We believe that Syrian LGBTQIA+ rights are human rights and that we have a responsibility to guard the principles of equality for all Syrians, not just some.
