Hurricane Milton Relief
About
After Hurricane Milton response phase, Unity in Disasters will begin identifying up to 75 displaced families and assist with move-in, relocation essential items. This phase will also focus on the elderly, special needs population and the under- and uninsured by providing assistance with minor home repairs to about 75 homeowners.
Need
The impact of Hurricane Milton has been devastating, with over 60,000 homes flooded due to storm surge and overflowing rivers and creeks. This comes on the heels of Hurricanes Debby and Helene, which affected many of the same areas in the past six weeks. The cumulative effect of these storms has left countless families displaced and in need of urgent assistance.
Long term impact
By providing timely and effective assistance, we can help families avoid falling into poverty, alleviate stress and trauma, and prevent the loss of homes and property. Children affected by the disaster will be able to return to a sense of normalcy more quickly, and communities will have renewed hope for a better future.
