Prevent 100 people from becoming homeless
About
Interfaith Neighbors will provide emergency rental and mortgage assistance to 100 people in order to prevent foreclosure, eviction, and homeless. Many of these individuals are children.
Need
With the high cost of housing in Monmouth County, many families have difficulty paying the current market rate rent, leading to housing instability and homelessness. With the average monthly rent for a typical two-bedroom apartment costing $1,272 in 2010, families need an income of over $20 per hour or $42,400 per year just to afford housing in Monmouth County. Working poor and unskilled laborers often earn less than $10 per hour. Any additional expense could result in homelessness.
Long term impact
Interfaith Neighbors will provide rental and mortgage assistance to 30 working poor families, which is equivalent to 100 people, most of whom are children. This assistance will allow families to avoid eviction or foreclosure and remain in their homes.
About the Organization
Interfaith Neighbors's mission is to assist those less fortunate among us to meet life's basic necessities, while seeking to improve the quality of life for individuals, families and the communities in which they live.
