The Effective Philanthropy Learning Initiative (EPLI) at the Stanford Center for Philanthropy and Civil Society (PACS) developed the Philanthropist Resource Directory (PRD), which is an inventory of organizations across the U.S. that work to support the philanthropic activities of high net worth donors (HNW). Organizations in this directory have been divided into seven categories.
Philanthropy Advisors and Consultants: Organizations that have philanthropy advisors on staff to serve HNW donors. Financial advisory firms and private banks with formal philanthropic advising services as included, as well as designated philanthropy advisory firms with three or more staff. The PRD currently does not include independent philanthropy advisors.
Collaborative Funds and Intermediaries: Organizations that direct contributions from HNW donors to nonprofit organizations. Of the 2000+ funding intermediaries in the country, only those organizations that have specific programs to engage HNW donors are included. This includes community foundations, public foundations, funder collaboratives, donor advised fund management organizations, and other similar models.
Research and Data Providers: Organizations that conduct research and provide data to support HNW donors in their philanthropic efforts.
Learning Networks: Organizations that manage networks of HNW donors.
